Today has been my favourite day so far learning to create engaging visual learning on google sites. I expanded my knowledge on using multi-modal and multi-textual learning and how this accelerates learning by using engaging ‘hook’s that inspires students to want to delve into learning, and empowering learners and their whanau by being clearly visual and easily accessible. I chose to join the group that created our own learning sites on the topic of ANZAC day as this is coming up soon. Creating our own site has greatly increased my confidence in using google sites and how easy it is to add many different options for sharing learning with my students. I look forward to sharing my ANZAC site with my learners as a follow up activity in independent activity time in week 2. And I am excited to create more sites for our inquiry topic coming up!

Kia ora Stephanie,
It is wonderful to hear that Day 5 has been your favourite so far! I love your thoughtful focus on how multi-modal and multi-textual learning can act as an engaging “hook” to accelerate student progress. Making learning visually accessible for both ākonga and their whānau is such a powerful way to build that home-school connection.
I am so impressed that your confidence has grown enough to create your own ANZAC site from scratch—it is such a practical resource for your independent activity time in week 2. To be even more helpful, as you start planning sites for your upcoming inquiry topics, you might want to try using the “Embed” tool to add interactive Google Forms or kahoots directly onto your pages. This is a fantastic way to keep your students’ attention on the site while they complete those background knowledge quizzes you mentioned previously!
I look forward to seeing your ANZAC site in action and hearing how your students enjoy this new way of learning.

Ooh, I’ll definitely add some kahoots and google forms quizzes!
Kia ora Stephanie,
It was great to be able to work with your for your Anzac site – it looks really great! I am sure your students will love navigating around that and even trying some things at home!
Natalie had some great advice about embedding Kahoots and forms and it is awesome to see you have done that!
I agree that multi-modal and multi-text definitely engages students with inspiring hooks – something that a lot of our students need!
I hope you have a great term, and look forward to seeing you on sites day 2 next holidays!
